Description
Leaf-Food Stamps/How Do I Know (Leaf Records 1982). Ultra-Rare private press 45 madness from the lost Baltimore band Leaf. FOOD STAMPS is a heavy funk burner that's destined to destroy dance floors and wreck mix tapes. The rhythm section has a classic up tempo JB's sound: deep bouncing bass, lean scratchy rhythm guitar, and seriously funky drums that'll make necks snap and butts bump. There's a massive open drum break that's long, deep, and devastating. Solid vocals and thick slabs of buttery wah-wah guitar add to the fire. This joint has a deep-fried 70's sound that has nothing to do with 1982. HOW DO I KNOW is a heavy slab of raw hard rock with a funky bottom end. Buzzing riffs, booming drums, grooving bass, glazed Ozzie vocals, and short sharp stabs of rock god lead guitar light up this sleazy feast of grisly 70's hard rock sounds. Believe the hype, this 45 is a monster.
