Dire financial straits resulting from loss of monetary income and inability to find employment compel me to part with the last of my treasured vinyl stash: my personalized, signed and autographed copies of rare and out-of-print LP editions. Even though I no longer own a turntable and listen only to CDs at this point, it pains me to let go of these albums, which were personally autographed to me on occasions of meeting the artists. 1969  Edition X (German import) self-titled LP by  La Monte Young & Marian Zazeela generally referred to as The Black Record – This was the first commercially issued recording from La Monte Young, which came out as a special limited and numbered edition (this is hand-numbered 1764 of 2800 copies) pressed by the Heiner Friedrich Gallery in Munich, Germany – Side One consists of one long piece with Young and Zazeela singing sustained tones over a sine wave drone, while Side Two consists of a composition for two bowed gongs, playable at both 16 & 33 rpm – It is packaged in a beautiful laminated heavy black sleeve which has dark grey printing on it: an elegant mandala design on the front, and liner notes in Zazeela’s lovely calligraphy on the back – The signature in black ink reads: “To Steven Hitchcock, 93 IV 8 NYC, La Monte Young, Marian Zazeela” – Due to the black-on-black color scheme, the true appearance of the cover and the signatures are not visible on the supplied photographs (like much fine art, it must be seen at first hand since reproduction cannot convey the subtlety of design) - Cover and disc are both in excellent condition (there is some very minor wear and surface noise, but no scratches or warping) (the white spot in the center of the front cover on the supplied photo is the reflection of the camera flash, not a defect in the cover)
