GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All records in auction have been fully heard. Lps on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge, EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Notes : all in all, the pieces are enjoyable, blithe and mainly from the fast rhythm. Typical sonorities for nightclubs sometimes combined with folk music such as the tarantella. The orchestra featuring a lot of wind instruments is conducted by one of the two composers, Luciano Fineschi, here on trombone as well. There are also two versions of "Il Suo Nome è Donna Rosa" sung by Popoff (a1) and Nino Taranto (b3) both on a cheery waltz tempo. The third is "Baby Stop" (b1) sung by the same Fineschi accompanied by a lively beat of swing. In my opinion the most interesting tracks are "Four to Four" (a7) where we find some beautiful jazz organ improvisations well supported by bass and drums. "Saxoball" (b2), romantic theme led by a good sax and "Three to Four" (b4) from the lively rhythm with Hammond, wind instruments, bass and drums.

The titles of eighteen tracks with their lenght can be read looking at the back cover depicted in the scan No. 2.
