Description

(BRADLEYS BARN ) by (BEAU BRUMMELS )...... ....( A FAN SAYS: You may think of these guys as a rock band from the sixties, but that's only part of the story. They really hadmore in common with the folk artists of the day than the rock ones. This 1968 album was recorded at Nashville'slegendary Bradley Barn studio. This album was to be the one to launch them to the next phase of their career. Itwould establish them as the only real threats to what the Byrds and a select few other artists were doing. Producer Lenny Waronker had finally come up with his masterpiece. The Beau Brummels never made another album. However if you're going to go out, this is the way to do it. This is what you call a lost treasure. After taking the Beau Brummels to the pop/folk psychedelic edge, producer Lenny Waronker took the band to Nashville, literally. Possibly influenced by the Byrds Sweetheart experiments, the group (now down to just Sal Valentino on vocals and Ron Elliott on guitars) wedded with Nashville's finest, including guitarist Jerry Reed and drummer Kenneth A. Buttrey, both veterans of Dylan's Nashville sessions. These players were not just good musicians, but smart musicians, easily embellishing the Elliott/Valentino duo as if they had been playing with the two for years, not days. The resulting masterpiece, no doubt due to the awesome Brummels original songs (especially "Cherokee Girl," "Turn Around," and "Deep Water"), is a virtual tapestry in rural and rock.
