I bought this LP new between Late 1966-Early 1967. I’m convinced it’s a first EPIC pressing.
Cover - Shrink on, top right corner missing. Price tag residue top left corner, over “over.” Just a few minor perimeter bumps, little ringwear. No writing, no cardboard splits.
Vinyl - Some rubs/smudges. A couple light thin lines. Plays over or through all of it.
Sleeve - Clear plastic.
Deadwax:
Side 1: l — (cursive small e) XEM114163-1C B l l \ / l l l l l
Side 2: o XEM114164-1C l — l\ l l l / l
Pressing Rings 69mm
Vinyl weight 4 5/8 oz, 131g
There is either a faint etching or a blemish preceding Side 2’s XEM. COULD be a partial circle with a v pointing down to right. Like a cartoon speech balloon. Or just a light mark in the vinyl. Or a “P” for Pitman. Or an “O, o, 0” for Columbia Customatrix metalworking.
The (cursive small e) on Side 1 could also be interpreted as any of the preceding icons/marks.
The l\ on side 2 actually looks like a large A without a cross bar.
The l — on each side may be a T, for Columbia Terre Haute pressing
My back cover does have an A on the bottom right. searchingforagem, a Dylan/Columbia records whale of a site, has A indicating that Columbia Terre Haute did the cover printing on Columbia albums. Epic has close affiliations with Columbia.
The Yardbirds will always be important as THE BAND that began the careers of Clapton, Beck and Page.
Another terrific Yardbirds album. Not just laying down rockers, but fiddling with effects, experimenting in the studio. Jeff Beck gets credit for all the hard guitar here.
