After thirty years of collecting Beatles vinyl, I've (ie my wife) decided to thin out my collection, starting with some of the rarer titles. These are all from my own personal collection; I am not a dealer. All items smoke and scent free!

Extremely rare copy pressed by HMV New Zealand for the Australian market. The blue labels mean this copy was pressed in 1966/67. The original matching (Australian-made) sleeve is the early (pre-1968) variation, with only the mono catalogue number printed on the back and spine. Very much sought after - check popsike!

Side 1: Please, Please Me / From Me To You / She Loves You / I’ll Get You / I Want To Hold Your Hand / Love Me Do / I Saw Her Standing There.
Side 2: Twist And Shout / Roll Over Beethoven / All My Loving / Hold Me Tight / Can’t Buy Me Love / You Can’t Do That / Long Tall Sally.

CONDITION
Grading as per Goldmine standards (ie no EX or VG++++++). Visual grading done under strong halogen lamp, play grading done on Project Xpression III with Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge. All anomalies noted. I consider my gradings conservative.

Sleeve: VG. Greatest Hits Volume 1 did not get a laminated-front sleeve until 1968. Before then, the sleeve was flimsy coated card (like Please Please Me). Consequently, original sleeves like this one are subject to ringwear and edgewear. This one is no worse than many others I've seen. But on the plus side, it is an authentic original sleeve. This copy has an 8mm split long the spine (through the word "GREATEST") and the start of a small split along the bottom seam. The sleeve is a bit grubby, however, with care could clean up well. Has "V HINGSTON 449-1913" written in black pen on the top rear flap. There are no stickers or sticker residue. The sleeve is quite structurally sound.

Note: It's worth mentioning that the sleeve quality was upgraded in 1968, with front lamination replacing the coated cardboard. These later sleeves are somewhat sturdier, so please keep this in mind if you are comparing this sleeve to other copies elsewhere. What you have here is a 100% original sleeve in all its original glory.

Has the original plastic inner sleeve.

Vinyl:
Visual: VG+. This is a very nice looking copy, with only light hairlines on each side. Still quite shiny (check photos). Much better than the sleeve would suggest!
Play: VG+. Nice thick vinyl ensures a VERY nice sound. A little bit crackly in the lead ins/fade outs, but this may reduce with a deep clean. A little bit fuzzy in one or two tracks, but not distracting and still a very enjoyable listen. My five year old was dancing along! NO loud pops, sticks or jumps.

Labels: VG+. Spindle marks which I can only see under halogen light. "HINGSTON" written lightly in pen on side 2. Really bright and crisp labels; certainly some of the nicest I've seen.

This copy would suit:
-collectors looking for NZ contract pressings.
-collectors of first pressings.

If you're looking at this auction, then chances are you're a serious collector. And being one myself, I know how important packaging is! Unless instructed otherwise by you, your LPs will be packaged:
-with the vinyl separated from the outer sleeve, to avoid seam splits
-in a new plastic protective outer sleeve
-with a new antistatic inner sleeve as well as the original inner sleeve (when the original inner sleeve still exists)
-in a NEW corrugated cardboard record mailer, and with bubblewrap where appropriate
