Description
Milestone SMJ-6077. I am unable to find a similar issue of this LP, or for that matter, any other Japanese Sonny Rollins LP, with a large thin cardboard insert with an autograph, so I can't state with any kind of certainty that it is an authentic signature. There are other versions of this Japanese version of The Cutting Edge which has a single insert in Japanese with credits - this one has that insert. I just can't find a similar insert that is clearly a Japanese sponsored insert - see Japanese letters bottom right hand. The autograph looks to be authentic and not printed, with breaks in the ink (not a consistent thick inkline such as with printed facsimile autographs). Also, when viewed through a loop, it is not comprised of dots, which is also a telltale sign of printing. Bottom line...YOU SEE WHAT I SEE, AND I DO NOT HAVE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THIS INSERT. I will say that there are Japanese produced Sonny Rollins LPs with autographs - these are found in Popsike but the autograph is on the album jacket, not on a Japanese sponsored insert. I would gladly add any information about this if an Ebayer would have useful information.
Found encased in a plastic sleeve with original obi. The top edge has a split about 5" from the jacket opening. No further splits, light edge wear, no marks or rings. LP stored in clear plastic inner sleeve, LOOKS GREAT with no scratches on clean vinyl, will grade NM.
