CONDITION

SLEEVE : For some reason it is rare to stumble across an unblemished copy of this particular sleeve as they always seem to suffer from varying degrees of ring-wear / this one is much better than most with minor ring-wear on the front only / no splits or creases and the spine is intact / this particular copy was originally part of a radio station catalogue so there are some minor notations in pen on the back cover which are forgivable / by far not the worst sleeve I’ve come across and this one is very acceptable considering it’s age and scarcity….more-so given the inclusion of the rare insert here in superb condition.

DESCRIPTION

Also rarely does one find the insert which accompanied some 1st pressings. It features full lyrics on the back cover and is a measurable bonus here.

Adelaide band The Stars first came to prominence with the single Quick On The Draw produced by Beeb Birtles in 1976. Beeb along with rest of Little River Band were impressed with the Adelaide band and brought tapes back to Melbourne and a contract with Mushroom records for Stars followed. The band sported a cowboy look wearing boots, checked shirts and cowboy hats with the line-up at that stage consisting of Mick Pealing (vocals), Mal Eastick (guitar), Glyn Dowling (drums) and Graham Thompson (bass).
After the success of their first single they added Andy Durant as a second guitarist. In 1977 they toured with Joe Cocker and in 1978, The Beach Boys and Linda Ronstadt.
Although not a teen band in the mould of Sherbet or Hush, The Stars appeared regularly on Countdown and scored a top 30 hit with the Andy Durant song “Mighty Rock” although the band did have a heap of other great singles as well plus the definitive / swansong ‘live’ album simply titled “1157”.

A brilliant album that seldom surfaces these days.
