Released in 1969, To Our Children's Children's Children is the fifth studio album by The Moody Blues and a conceptual work centered on themes of space travel and human exploration. It was inspired by the Apollo 11 moon landing that occurred during the album's recording sessions. The LP was the inaugural release on the band's newly formed Threshold Records label.

The album's conceptual nature is reflected in its tracklist, which features a mix of spoken word poetry, hard-rocking tracks, and more gentle, folk-oriented songs. The album is notable for its use of the Mellotron, a signature sound of The Moody Blues, and its integration of various sonic effects to create an immersive, space-themed experience. The opening track, "Higher and Higher," for instance, begins with the sound of a rocket launch.

To Our Children's Children's Children was a commercial success, reaching #2 on the UK charts and #14 in the US, and was certified Gold in the USA. While "Watching and Waiting" was released as a single, it was "Gypsy (Of a Strange and Distant Time)" that became an album-oriented rock radio favorite and a staple in the band's live performances. The album is considered one of the band's "classic seven" and is praised for its adventurous and ambitious approach to songwriting and production.
