At the corner of Electric Wizard, Kyuss, and a few sheets of blotter paper is Risin Sabotage, a psychedelic-doom band out of Ukraine. Turn on, tune in, and drop out with these seven mind melting tracks of fuzzed-out desert rock. With one of the thickest tones I've heard in 2015 since Monolord's 'Vaenir', Risin Sabotage decimates listeners with avalanches of sludge blues song-after-song. "War" channels it's inner Sabbath with an eerie thunderstorm sample and quasi-sociopolitical lyrics about (you guessed it) war. Guitar leads and solos cut through the dense distortion like warp-speed light tracers; the vocals grandiose haziness also balance out the down-n-dirty nature of the riffs. "Vultures" is a super fun psych-rock song with plenty of shredding and lyrics about murderous cowboys on drugs. Overall, this is one of the better psych-doom albums I've heard this year. If you dig on Goatsnake and Holy Serpent, I highly recommend you visit their bandcamp page and burn a fat one. (KB/instagram.com)
