Item Description
Format: LP with PRIVATE LETTER - see notes below Composer(s): Title: "Trade Winds" Artist(s): The Maile Hawaiians (John Marsden, Kalena his wife et al) Year: 1972 Country: UK Label: PRIVATE / MAILE RECORDS / DEROY (Carnforth) Catalogue: SDLP.110 Matrix numbers A: ADM 838 A S Matrix numbers B: ADM 838 B S Sleeve: VG- plain card sleeve, with typed notes by Marsden on rear Inner sleeve: VG- inner; EX or EX+ age-stained poly-lined inner supplied Vinyl: VG or VG+ with many light scratches but no horrible gouges
The matrix numbers confirm this record as a DEROY Carnforth / Mr AD (Derrick) Marsh production, which according to one eBay watcher (a DEROY cataloguer) was "pressed just a couple of days after one of the major Meic Stevens LPs, if you want to put it into some kind of chronological timeframe ... may be one of the first times this has appeared for sale ... probably produced ... less than 100". NB: This record comes with a PRIVATE LETTER found inside the sleeve. Comprising two handwritten sides and a narrative with personal feelings about the recording of the album with an assessment of its merits and shortcomings, it is written on commercial headed paper belonging to Ken Patten, the guitarist and signed "Ken". The letter contains nothing delicate for the writer or recipients ("Val & Syd" in Preston) and is included simply as nostalgic context for this private press.
NB: Compulsory insurance applies at £5.99 per shipment to territories: Italy, Eastern Europe, Russia, Israel, Africa, China, Central America, South America
