The Sound of Kathy Young
Kathy Young & The Innocents
Okay... I have been debating on whether or not to sell this album for over 5 months. I have finally decided that I do not need it. From what I have been able to find out, this is considered a quite rare and collectible album. This artist falls outside of the time range that I normally collect, so here it is.
- Title: The Sound of Kathy Young
- Artist: Kathy Young & The Innocents
- Label: Indigo
- Number: IND-LP504
- Year of Release: 1961
Grading:
I have a hard time grading records, because even if you use the textbook grading systems, it's still a matter of individual opinion... one person's "scuff" is another person's "scratch." So here goes....
- Label: Near Mint.
- Vinyl: Near Mint Minus. While I can't see where this album has ever been played, it was not sealed; and under extreme light conditions, I am able to see a couple of super small scuff lines. However, it is quite possible these imperfections have been in the vinyl since day one. However, they are there, so I am not going to list this as Near Mint.
- Inner Sleeve: Starting to brown and has brown stains from exposure to the elements, otherwise intact.
- Outer Sleeve: *sigh*... this is tricky. I'm not even going to try to assign a grade to this... I'll just tell you what it looks like. The shrink wrap is still on this album cover. However, there are some rips and holes in the shrink wrap. Where the holes and rips are is slight discoloration of the cover. Also, there is ring-wear beginning to show... and I can't tell if its on the shrink wrap or the cover itself. I am not going to remove the wrap to find out. The original 44 cent price tag is still on the shrink wrap. The front cover upper right corner is starting to show signs of fraying. Spines are still intact. There is a shrink wrap whole on the left hand spine. At this hole, the paper is starting to show a split. This is about an inch wide. The back cover is where the problem is. On the upper left hand edge of the back cover, there is what appears to be water damage, in the form of the cover turning brown, or having a brown stain. This damage did not go all the way through the cardboard. If you look inside the sleeve, you see that there is no damage inside, which means the water did not reach the inner sleeve, or the vinyl. There is also visible browning of the cover on the back cover where the shrink wrap has holes. Ring wear is also starting to show. You should be able to see what I'm talking about by the pictures.
- Overall: While the vinyl is great, collectors wanting a pristine cover will not be happy.

Pricing:
Straight Up... I don't like reserve price auctions, so I'm not setting a reserve on this. Instead, I am going to start the bidding at the minimum that I will accept for this album. I have the books, so I know what this album is worth in it's current condition. I also know that it is rare and collectible, so I'm not letting it go for below what I want for it. If it doesn't sell, then it goes back into my private collection.
Payment:
- I prefer PayPal, but also accept personal checks and money orders. Please do not send cash thru the mail.
- For personal checks... I don't ship the item until the check clears the bank.
Shipping:
- I will ship anywhere, but if you're outside of the United States, you already know that shipping is going to cost more than what I am listing here... so email me if you win the bid and live outside of the United States so I can find out how much it's going to cost.
- Because of the rarity of this album, I am going to include the price for shipping via USPS Priority Mail in the minimum bid price. I will pay for the cost of the insurance and the cost of sending it with confirmation of delivery.
If you have any questions about this item, be sure to email me before you bid. Thanks, and good luck.
