Bernard Ilous se crió en una familia de amantes de la música. A sus padres les encantaba el jazz y la música clásica e inculcaron la pasión por la música a su hijo hasta el punto que este acabo aprendiendo autodidácticamente a tocar el piano y la guitarra. Descubrió el R&R y se lanzó a tocar versiones de Beatles y Dylan, pero pronto mostró una enorme capacidad para componer sus propias canciones. Mostró sus primeros trabajos a Gérard Tavernier, quien firmó con él un contrato para ligarlo a su editorial, y así algunas de las canciones de Ilous acabaron en el repertorio de artistas de la talla de Françoise Hardy, Eric Charden, Johnny Hallyday, Dick Rivers y otros. En 1969 su amigo Claude Putterflam montó el sello Flamophone y le propuso grabar un single. Ilous, animado por la idea de grabar y editar sus propias canciones interpretadas por él mismo aceptó complacido. Muy pronto se unió a él Patrice Decuyper, con quien grabaría el fenomenal LP que os ofrecemos. Editado también en Flamophone en julio de 1971 es una espléndida mezcla de folk y pop que hace pensar en material de Beatles, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young o Joni Mitchell. Su sonido es impresionante, les llevó un año completarlo ya que utilizaban las horas libres que podían pescar en el estudio para mantenerse dentro del presupuesto de que disponían, y ellos mismos tocan guitarras y teclados y son apoyados por sus amigos de Le Système Crapoutchik a los demás instrumentos. La producción es excelente y las composiciones fuera de serie, probablemente uno de los mejores LPs cantados en francés de todos los tiempos, de compra obligatoria para cualquier fan de las producciones y los arreglos de calidad de los 60 y 70.

Reeditado en formato vinilo por primera vez desde su aparición original, masterizado a partir de las cintas originales y con el añadido de un 7" conteniendo ambas caras de su single de 1972, más un inserto con notas y fotos de la época. Edición limitada de únicamente 500 copias.

  Bernard Ilous came from a music lovers family, his parents were into jazz and classical music and the young Ilous inherited that sensitivity to the point of teaching himself to play guitar and piano. He discovered R&R and started doing covers of The Beatles and Bob Dylan, but he soon showed skills to write his own compositions. He showed his work to music publisher Gérard Tavernier who signed him to his company and thus some of Ilous songs appeared on LPs by Françoise Hardy, Eric Charden, Johnny Hallyday, Dick Rivers, a.o. In 1969 his friend Claude Putterflam left his job at Vogue to create Flamophone records and he produced a single for Ilous, who was willing to release his own songs by himself. Very soon Ilous joined forces with Patrice Decuyper with whom he would record the amazing LP on offer here. Issued also on Flamophone in July 1971, its blend of folk & pop brings to mind echoes of The Beatles, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young or Joni Mitchell. The sound on the LP is amazing, they took one whole year to produce it, as they were using free studio hours now and then to stay into a budget, and they played most of the guitars and keyboards and were helped by friends from Le Système Crapoutchik on other instruments. The production is excellent and the compositions are amazing, probably one of the most impressive French-sung LPs of all time, and a must for lovers of 60's and 70's perfectly arranged & produced, well crafted works.

  It is reissued on vinyl for the first time since its original release, mastered from the original tapes and featuring a bonus 7" containing the two songs from their 1972 non-LP single plus an insert with liner notes. In a limited edition of only 500 copies.
