Recorded over five separate sessions in 1956, Close To You stands as one of the most intimate, chamber-pop vocal projects of Sinatra’s entire Capitol tenure.

Moving away from big-band swing, Sinatra requested a stripped-back, chamber-jazz sound built around The Hollywood String Quartet alongside subtle rhythm support from Ray Sherman (piano) and Vincent Terri (guitar). Nelson Riddle’s delicate string arrangements frame Sinatra’s vocal work with an exquisite, late-night torch-song aesthetic.
