Record grading
EX Excellent: The record should show only very minor signs of wear that does not affect play.
VG+ Very Good Plus: only superficial signs of use that only slightly affect play. Only well cared for records will grade out to VG+, possibility of light surface noise between tracks only.
VG Very Good: A used, reasonable copy. There will be obvious signs of wear and the possibility of surface noise between tracks or during quiet passages, but still quite nice.
VG- Very Good Minus: Significant wear and marks and usually quite noticeable surface noise.
G Good. In the record world, 'Good' is not good! From here on down (Fair, Poor), we're talking about beat-up records.
Cover grading
EX cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits, cut-out holes, or other noticeable similar defects.
VG+ Cover may have slight signs of wear, and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation, or small cut corner, or minor clear sticky tape. In general, if not for a couple of minor things wrong with it.
VG Very Good A used, reasonable condition. Cover may have small writing or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached.
VG- Very Good Minus: Cover will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear, big cut corner or other defects will be present.
G Good. In the record world, 'Good' is not good! From here on down (Fair, Poor), we're talking about beat-up cover with major defect including water damage.
