HUGE SELECTION OF VINYL available (thousands). In this auction...
The Beatles YESTERDAY AND TODAY Capitol Records, T 2553 Mono I thought this was a Rare 2nd State ("offensive" Butcher photo recalled and covered up by a sticker featuring the lads and an open trunk), but then someone said if you can't see the "V" to the right of the trunk then it's not. I don't see a "V". vinyl etchings: T1 - 2553 - F71 vinyl etchings: T2 - 2553 - F7 #4
On the Back cover, The number 8 is to the right of the RIAA symbol. This indicates that the cover was manufactured in Scranton, PA. (Only Scranton and LA issued the Butcher cover with over-layed stickers. The Jacksonville FL plant reportedly destroyed all of theirs.) But a source on line indicates that an 8 should only be in stereo and mine is MONO. Which shouldn't be possible. SO. I Don't Know What I've Got Here as far as Butcher cover goes.
This much is true: There is a triangle etched on both sides of the vinyl with letters inside it: "I" on top of "AM". This stands for the International Association of Machinists. This emblem was used at the Scranton PA plant in 1965 and 1966 which dates this to the original release of the album (not a later re-issue). So at the very least this is a 1966 version of the album.
I will lower the price from $550 to $300 since I'm not sure it's a Butcher underneath. I will also lower offers (or higher ones if this is ultra rare) The inner paper sleeve is plain white and may not be original (has some yellowing).
I have other Beatles albums on eBay now... Visual Appraisal of Vinyl: EX Light Scratch on side 2 extending through tracks 1, 2 and half of 3. Otherwise clean, shiny and scratch free. Condition of Cover: VG See pics. Seams are all tight and intact. No writing or stickers. Slight ding on corners. Yellowing, discoloration. Some foxing along bottom edge. Someone may have wet or steamed the bottom edge trying to get the sticker off, but it is tightly attached. I DON'T SEE A BLACK V.
Will be Packed Carefully in a box within an over-sized box and shipped with insurance.
