Description
PRIVATE PRESS by Century Records of West Palm Beach, Florida. This is a performance by the Tabernacle Gospel Chorus, Tabernacle Baptist Church of West Palm Beach, Florida. I could not find this LP online at all. However, the church is still active in Florida, including its Chorus. Here is a passage from the website on the history of the Tabernacle Gospel Chorus, noting individuals that are also identified on the back of the record's jacket:
"The Tabernacle Gospel Chorus was organized on November 10, 1965. There were many who expressed interest in singing gospel music, but Mrs. Barbara B. Adams took the lead and gained permission for Tabernacle Gospel Chorus to become organized. Mrs. Adams was chosen as the first president and Mrs. Mable G. Hall was selected as musician/directress. Original members currently serving are Mrs. Barbara B. Adams, Mrs. Geneva B. Boynton, Mr. Elijah Bolden, Mrs. Ruth E. Dorsey, Mrs. Betty B. Frederick, Mrs. Emma K. Lynn, and Mrs. Jacqueline T. Morrison....
...The Tabernacle Gospel Chorus previously held membership in the Palm Beach Minority Cultural Consortium and performed with the mass gospel choir at the West Palm Beach Auditorium in 1988. The Chorus has sung at the Kravis Center, and in the Year 2001, performed at the Harriet Himmel Theater/City Place for the United Way. The Gospel Chorus was the originating choir to sing at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church service in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King’s death. This event has been in existence for more than fifteen years and has expanded to many participating choirs and a packed audience."
The jacket is in VERY GOOD CONDITION; the shrink has kept it mostly in near mint condition, but there is a split on the bottom edge about four inches from the jacket opening where the shrink is also split. The LP stored without inner sleeve, one provided for this listing. LP looks great with perhaps a faint scratch or two, will grade VG++.
