Among the greatest fusion albums of all time, this super disc features the Jacques Loussier Trio and their very highly acclaimed reads of Bach in the jazz idiom.
Loussier, in fact, took the musical world by storm with this playing, had with his piano work since the age of 16, under the tutelage of Yves Nat, who himself was encouraged to play by the likes of Faure, Debussy and Saint-Saens.
But, it is the at-once playful intelligence always at work here that delights so, as the trio embarks in improvisation with Bach's PRELUDE No. 3 (from Well Tempered), CONCERTO No. 5 FOR PIANO AND STRINGS, and BOURREE from Partita No. 1 for Unaccompanied Violin.
A stunning bit of music, recorded and pressed extraordinarily well. "Stunning" being the only word to use, as, in ways, this competes with the Gale and the Kamiya Rca for utmost transparency and definition.
Simply a prize in vinyl literature, this among my favorite records I have ever heard.
