MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original Odeon Records very first Mono press released, made and distributed in Perú by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Peruanas S.A. (IEMPSA) in 1966, catalog number 45-9478, with machine etched matrix numbers IEMP-5783 in Side A and IEMP 5782 in Side B, with traditional yellow/red/black Odeon Records labels of the period and large center. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from South America!!!

“El Baile Del Pájaro Tablista” was released in 1966 and the songs included in this single were never released in LP. Song titles are written in Spanish only, with full credits for songwriters and additional information about the style of music: “Surf”, in both sides. About the songs, “Apache 66” is a cover of Bert Weedon’s “Apache” (a worldwide hit by The Shadows) and you can see the name of the songwriter, Jerry Lordan, is misspelled “Y. Lordan”. The song “El Baile Del Pájaro Tablista” (The Dance Of The Surfer Bird) is a mix, sung in Spanish, of songs “Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow” by The Rivingtons and “Bird Dance Beat” and “Surfin’ Bird” by The Thrashmen. So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE ORIGINAL VERY FIRST PERUVIAN PRESS of this single by Los Shain’s and with UNIQUE ERROR!!! WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Los Shain’s, also considered one of the best Peruvian/Latin Garage/Beat band, included in the Pokora’s books!!!

This record doesn’t have a cover. The record is in VG- or VG condition both sides, it has lost part of its shine but it’s clean, with many scuffs, many hairlines and many scratches of all sizes and in all directions, which could make you think the record won’t play properly but amazingly they don’t affect play at all. Labels are in nice VG- or VG condition both sides, mostly clean, with some spindle hole wear and moderate wear, with some discoloration, faint blemishes, writings and a mark of humidity in Side a, but still clear and fully readable. The sound is the best part, it’s in strong VG or VG+ condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with constant soft crackles and some occasional light clicks, more evident in the last seconds of each song, which don’t really cause major distraction from the still loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, this is a great record in this MEGARARE ORIGINAL PERUVIAN VERY FIRST PRESS, for sure not for Minty minds or audiophiles, but it keeps a nice glossy look, fully readable labels and a very decent and respectable sound quality after about 53 years, which won’t disappoint anyone and will satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity this single has!!! And keep in mind the error in the credit for Jerry Lordan!!! Yes, Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
