His postmodern style is equally inspired by traditional as by new methods and has earned him the reputation of being a visionary.  Tabula Rasa stands as one of his most widely-performed compositions, as well as a fine example of his mature style. At once reverent, bleak and timeless, rich with otherwordly harmonies, Tabula Rasa aptly displays exactly why Arvo Pärt is regarded as one of the most exceptional composers of the late 20th century.
