Unless otherwise noted, most LPs graded EX/NM- and above will be without visible surface defects, and should play almost like new. Those graded VG+ and lower may have tape, and varying degrees of wear such as ring wear, seam splits, edge wear, and so forth.
COMMENT - GREAT vintage album!
The 1959 album entitled WITH BELLS ON (CAL/CAS-501) is on RCA's LIVING STEREO budget label, CAMDEN. It is quite difficult to find – especially in STEREO.
Reportedly, RCA conductor/arranger Sid Bass got the idea for this LP after reading Edgar Allan Poe's "The Bells." Besides the usual pop band instruments, added to these sessions are (alphabetically): celesta, chimes, Chinese bell tree, English school bells, keyboard glockenspiel, magnaharp, orchestral bells, vibraphone and xylophone. A highlight is "Pick Yourself Up," a Dorothy Fields/Vernon Duke tune from the film “SWING TIME” (1936). The cut that received the most airplay on my hometown "adult contemporary" AM station is "Blue Room." It's a Rogers & Hart number from the 1926 stageshow "The Girl Friend." Sid's scoring of these two songs is most clever. Two percussion showcases, "Blue Bells" and "Bells Are Swinging" are Bass originals written for this album.
