We wanted to create something that maintained the integrity of the band's personality, but pushed our boundaries. Rick challenged us that no boundaries should exist whatsoever in our creative pursuit.' Minutes To Midnight is rock's most anticipated album of the year. Four years since the release of Linkin Park's quadruple-platinum, #1 smash Meteora and after more than a year of musical experimentation Minutes To Midnight redefines one of today's most adventurous, accomplished and acclaimed bands.
 When we first met with our producer Rick Rubin, he asked us what we wanted this album to sound like. Going around the room, each of the six of us answered the question in a similar way: we wanted to create something that maintained the integrity of the band’s personality, but pushed our boundaries. Rick challenged us that no boundaries should exist whatsoever in our creative pursuit. In the months that followed, we struggled to find that truth. We got frustrated when the ideas wouldn’t come, sometimes chasing inspiration through 50 or 60 versions of a song just to end up at something that sounded like the first idea we came up with. We surprised ourselves when a song came together quickly and easily. We celebrated when each of us stepped outside our comfort zone and performed or wrote in a way that we never had before.As the process comes to a close, at the end of over a year of dedication, experimentation, and soul-searching, we believe that we’ve achieved that which we were challenged to realize. Sie sind Superstars der Rockmusik, Headliner auf Musikfestivals und gehören schon alleine deshalb zu den Topacts der Plattenfirma. Und die heißt in diesem Fall Warner. Dort sorgte man dafür, dass das 2007er Album perfekt produziert wurde, von einen Top-Mann, der u.a. schon Johnny Cash-Scheiben zu ungeahnter Popularität und letztendlich auf ein sehr hohes Produktionsniveau gehoben hatte: Rick Rubin! Er hat zusammen mit Mike Shinoda ein starkes Rockalbum geschmiedet, Linkin Park sind damit noch stärker als bisher zum Medienereignis geworden. Tatsächlich wurden die Arrangements raffinierter und ausgefeilter, wuchtig rollen sie ihre Gitarren- und Drum-Wände auf den Hörer nieder. Allerdings nie banal und brutal, sondern sie binden die kraftvollen Sets in ein ausgeklügeltes Gesamtkonzept ein. Dass dabei auch die poppige Ausrichtung bei älteren Fans ankommt, liegt wohl daran, dass sie ihre Lieblinge nun öfter ihm Radio hören.
