Description
This is an overall fine U.S. white label promo copy of the rare sole LP by New Mexico-based group the Lincoln St. Exit, released in 1970. The LP is one of the finest rock records to come out on the Mainstream label at the time. Though often labeled a "psych" record, tracks like "Man Machine," "Dirty Mother Blues" (about drug addiction), and "Time Has Come Gonna Die" are too gritty in both subject matter and sound to warrant that designation, and are more akin to mid-'60s punk and early '70s hard rock. Other songs (notably "Soulful Drifter" and "Going Back Home") are more upbeat. At least most of the group's members were Native American, which helps account for the music's hard edge. They soon after shortened their name to XIT and released several LPs through the '70s. The jacket is in fine overall condition with light ring, corner, spine, seam, and edge wear; light creasing and scuffing along the spine on the front cover; and a small tear in one corner of the back cover slick (see photos) -- overall EX(-). Visually, the disc is clean with some light scuffing. A few tracks play with some fuzziness, which a good cleaning might help; otherwise the disc plays with some light surface noise -- overall VG++. "Promotional/Not for sale" is printed on both labels. The disc's matrix #s are as follows: side 1 (This Side) KY-644A – ICP/side 2 (That Side) KY-645B – ICP.
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
