LIL’ BOYS BLUE-45-“I’m Not There” b/w “Take You Away”-Bat Wing Records #2003-MONSTER 1966 Bay Area, California Garage-Punker-Most of you Pro-Garage collectors know this from Tim’s KILLERKOOL BACK FROM THE GRAVE series (Vol. 3)-If not, it’s a KILLER! Clocks in at 1:55 (one second less than TALK TALK!), thrashing guitar, Vox Continental organ, great gutteral Stones/Pretty Things lead vocals (good shreik on the conclusion), with a “I’m Not Your Steppin’ Stone”/”No Friend Of Mine (Sparkles/Swamprats) chord progression, which accelerates toward the end of the track...B side is different, a teen Ballad really, but really ultra-cool with an outstanding, primitive lead guitar break...great 2 sider...great band, great label....BAT WING RECORDS 1966
I use the Jerry Osborne grading system: 10 - mint, 9 - near-mint, 8 - better than vg below nm, 7 - very good, 6 - better than g, below vg, 5 - Good, 4 - better than poor below good, 3 - Poor, 2 - Really trashed, 1 - It hurts to think about it.
