Lighthouse : Thoughts Of Movin' On 1Y1 / 2Y1 1st Press

This first pressing plays to an incredible standard with no interference.  No interference!  The clarity, depth and warmth of the audio on both sides is STUNNING and it is clear the record has hardly ever been played.  There is next to no spindle wear on the labels to back up this theory.  There are only a couple of very light ticks on S1 and that is it, the clarity really is of the highest calibre.  'As new' sums it up perfectly and this is without question a FINAL UPGRADE album.

The gatefold is in very good condition with just some light marking on the front cover.  I will grade as VG+ although it is very close to Ex in my opinion.  The original swirl inner is in excellent condition.

Visual grading

The vinyl is in great condition with a very impressive glossy sheen and there are no scratches.  S1 in particular is visually stunning with only a small number of faint sleeve removal hairlines.  S2 has one very small hairline mark and a few more sleeve removal hairlines but they are purely superficial as they have no affect on the stunning audio at all.  The run out grooves are pristine as are the Vertigo labels which only have a couple of tiny spindle traces on each.

Play grading

'Take It Slow (Out In The Country)' plays with stunning clarity from start to finish with barely any interference.  There is just one tick as the vocal begins and an even lighter tick during the mid instrumental and that is it.  The actual clarity on the vocal and music is superb and this opening track easily grades as Near Mint+ such is the quality.

The percussive/bass intro on 'What Gives You The Right' is 'as new' and the first vocal is just as impressive.  From then it plays with genuine precision with no sign of any interference and that includes the fade out.  Mint

The acoustic intro on 'You And Me' plays so clearly with only a couple of dust ticks and the opening vocal has no interference either.  It continues to play beautifully with a clarity that defies its 50 years.  A relatively quiet track and yet the playback is absolutely stunning!  Each note is so clean and precise and throughout the near 5 minutes I heard just one very light tick.  This is Mint- I am confident in saying.

'Fly My Airplane' and 'I'd Be So Happy' end the side with outstanding audio with no sign of any interference.  Perhaps not a typical Vertigo pressing but S1 nonetheless plays with amazing clarity throughout and 'as new' is well deserved.  There are of course a number of quiet piano sections on the final track and yet they all play with sublime precision with no ticks or clicks etc.  Both tracks grade as Mint

S2 begins with a stunning version of 'I Just Wanna Be Your Friend' that has no 'background' from the first groove to the last.  In essence it could not play any better and Mint is again deserved.

'I'm Gonna Try To Make It' is of the same 'high end' standard with a clarity and warmth that is second to none.  No interference just pure Mint audio throughout.

'Rockin' Chair' plays with superb power and again...no interference.  Not one tick, click or pops and no static either.  very impressive depth on this track also.  Mint

The quiet intro and opening vocal on 'Walk Me Down' play beautifully with not even a single dust tick and it proceeds in the same way with sublime clarity and definition.  This is a stunning version with so many quiet sections and yet the clarity makes you think it was pressed only yesterday!  This is audio of the highest calibre and the long fade out provides more evidence of a vinyl so well preserved down the years with not one solitary dust tick.  Another Mint track.

'Insane' ends the album with stunning audio once more.  There's not a lot else I can say!  From start to finish there is no interference and there is no inner groove distortion either.  A Mint finish for sure.

In summary this Vertigo first pressing could not play any better.  The vinyl has not lost any of its original sonic quality and it patently obvious it has hardly been played.  The clarity, depth and warmth of the audio is stunning and if you want a FINAL UPGRADE of this rare album then this is the one to own!

The Gatefold & Inner Sleeve

The cover retains its original shape and structure with no bends or creasing and does not have too much shelf wear.  The edges have some rubbing but no damage and the wide spine is very clean and is 100% legible with only minimal wear on the corners.  The other corners are also in excellent order with very little wear and the opening edge is close to perfect.  The front cover has some minor white 'specks', a couple of fade marks and a little fading along the bottom edge and the back cover is actually very impressive with only a minimal fading around the edges.  The inside of the gatefold is in perfect condition with no marking.  A very good example overall.

The original inner dated is in excellent condition with no side splits or tears and barely any marking and just a little creasing.  There is however a small hole punch in one corner.
