Description
Here's one of the very rarest SWISS BEAT records existing, the legendary EP by LES CHEYENS (from the french part of the Jura), not to be confounded with the band Les Cheyennes hailing from Olten, which also published a rare, but not THAT rare 45. This self titled EP was produced in VERY limited numbers in 1965, so limited, that even most swiss collectors have never seen, let alone owned, this record. The music on this EP varies: French sung track "Tu ne mérites pas" is sort of a unique freakbeat number, instrumentals Whig Wam (Les Cheyens) and Memphis (Chuck Berry) are groovy Freakbeat numbers with great guitar work and "Balla Balla" is a cover of the Rainbows hit, which was also adapted by Swiss freakbeat legends THE SEVENS. Les Cheyens must have had a strong link to The Sevens and their hometown of Basel, as the great cover shot of this ultrarare EP was taken by Ruedi Bertschi, a photographer, who documented the Sevens and other Basel located top notch Freakbeat bands like the Dynamites or the Red Devils in their prime. This is a privately published EP on the rare "Ruba Beerli" label from Basel, that also published the rare Diables Rouges (Red Devils) EP in 1965. Catalogue number is 45 RU 7780. Cover and record are in EX condition, some very mild wear, but absolutely nothing serious, no WOC, no heavy crackling etc. This is a truly great copy of a record, that you won't find again, be assured.
