Experimental electronics in a special package from the Legendary Pink Dots and Beequeen, limited edition of only 200 copies.
Some info on the release: Only 200 copies in existence, back from 1990. One of the most legendary releases of the Dots. All silk-screened artwork, including the disc labels, inner sleeves, heavy cardboard insert, and plastic outer sleeve. Recorded for the fashion show in the Netherlands Der Aussiedler featuring designs by René Heid of Rund Um Den Watzmann. This one was supposed to come with a t-shirt, but which on this case is missing. Close to the sounds of Nurse with wound, Zoviet France, Hafler Trio, Whitehouse, Thomas Koner, Organum, De Fabriek, Current 93, minimal / synth, Nocturnal Emissions, P16.D4, Hnas and Etant Donnes, Force Dimension, Absolute Body Control and Bene Gesserit.
Founded in 1979, the Legendary Pink Dots occupy an important and individual place in the field of experimental and psychedelic music. The band is fronted by Edward Ka-Spel who doubles as singer and chief lyric writer, but other members including Phil Knight (The Silverman), Niels Van Hoorn, Martijn de Kleer and Raymond Steeg make up the current lineup of the band. The sound is often made up of a complex conglomerate of electronics, saxophones, guitars, drums and Ka-Spel's distinctive voice and unique lyrical invention. Side projects of the band include: The Tear Garden, Twilight Circus, The Silverman and lots of others. Martijn de Kleer rejoined the band for its 25th Anniversary Tour.
Their music touches on elements of neo-psychedelia, ambient music, electronic music, tape music, industrial, psych folk, synth-pop and goth rock, with a distinctly experimental/avant-garde bent; their sound has evolved over time and remains distinctive, making it difficult to place the group into a concise style or genre. The group's overall sound combined with Ka-Spel's distinct lyrics and singing have earned comparisons to Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett; the group has also been compared to such classic Seventies bands as Can, Faust, Brainticket, Magma or Neu! (whose "Super" they covered on the 1999 tribute album "A Homage to NEU!").
The Pink Dots also collaborated with Skinny Pup's cEvin Key, forming a side project named The Tear Garden. Key also appears on the 1994 LPD album 9 Lives to Wonder. Others groups related to present and past Pink Dots members are Strange Attractor, Mimir and Minizza. Ryan Moore, who provided drums on studio and live performances for the Legendary Pink Dots, departed to work on his own musical outlet, the Twilight Circus Dub Sound System. He has found notable success with Twilight Circus in the Reggae/Dub genre. He even wrote and produced new albums for grammy-award winning singer Michael Rose of Black Uhuru, and has worked with other notable Reggae figures such as Sly Dunbar, half of one of the most influential partnerships in reggae music, Sly & Robbie.
Beequeen is the musical project of Freek Kinkelaar and Frans de Waard. They have released lots of more work on CD and Vinyl. Freek Kinkelaar is also active with his solo-project Brunnen, and Frans de Waard is surely one of the most active guys on this planet, with his different musical outfits as Kapotte Muziek, Goem, Shifts and Quest; and also he is running the label Korm Plastics, has been working for the famous dutch label and distro Staalplaat, and publishes a very informative newsletter (Vital Weekly).
Condition: The "cover" & the artwork / inner look to be in excellent condition (although usual grading doesn't apply to this release), while vinyl looks unplayed, never used, in mint condition.
