LEE MORGAN “The Cooker” RVG, P, DG, LAM, Blue Note BLP 1578 Mono Vinyl

This is 1958, first edition, “RVG” etched, Laminated Cover, Deep Groove, “P” pressing of LEE MORGAN’s “The Cooker” on the "47 West 63rd” labels of Blue Note BLP 1578. Musicians include Lee Morgan, Pepper Adams, Bobby Timmons, Paul Chambers, Philly Joe Jones.

VINYL plays with consistent light surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with pops and ticks. Repeating loud tick end of Side 1 in bass solo. Repeating ticks throughout Side 2: #1 and #2. But Ensemble sections are clear, very dynamic and very strong. Plays well overall. No skips. Low gloss. 15 or so hairline marks, 4 feelable. (If you can’t feel it, you won’t hear it). The Deep Groove “47 West 63rd” labels are show wear. See photos.

LAMINATED COVER is in good shape. Some peeling, corners worn. Top seam clean, spine shows cracks and a split, bottom cracking and 3” split. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23” back jacket shows wear, stains, “Rodney” in blue ink. Please see photos.

   

This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC CLEANER.
