LEE MORGAN - RARE!!! FACTORY SEALED! MINT VINYL! BLUE NOTE CLASSIC ISSUED IN 1979. THE PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED "SONIC BOOM" LP.


Recorded in April 1967 at Van Gelder Studios and produced by Alfred Lion. This posthumous release of previously unreleased material featured another great lineup of "supporting" musicians. Morgan on Trumpet with David "Fathead" Newman on Tenor Sax, the inimitable Cedar Walton on Piano, the virtuoso Ron Carter on Bass and Billy Higgins on Drums.


With excellent liner notes by Michael Cuscuna, who produced this album for release in the Blue Note series, concludes his notes with these final thoughts. 


"Any newly discovered Lee Morgan material is of great value to jazz. But hearing David Newman in such a fresh, uncompromising setting makes this album all the more special. Newman and Walton, like Morgan, have the ability to play from both the mind and the gut. The combination here is a logical and compatible one." So there's your 'Sonic Boom!' 


Of note: This album has a clean hole in the upper right corner of the cover for promotional purposes. Also, there's a slight half-inch crease in the lower right corner of the cover and that's why I graded the cover as VG+. Otherwise, it's in fantastic condition. See the photos!
