Description

Lee Morgan The Cooker, original deep groove pressing with ear and rvg in dead wax. Vinyl is vg+/vg++. Side one has a 1/2 inch feelable scratch at the end of the side that doesn't sound except for some non distracting static for 5 or 6 revolutions just before end of side. Labels are clean except for a few small light spots on side 1. Cover is nm-, no splits, a little corner rubbing and small piece of white backing missing from back cover near top seam. ( please see pictures.) Lee Morgan, then just 19, teams up with baritonist Pepper Adams, pianist Bobby Timmons, bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Philly Joe Jones for a particularly strong set that is highlighted by a lengthy and fiery "Night in Tunisia," "Lover Man" and a rapid rendition of "Just One of Those Things." Morgan plays remarkably well for his age (already ranking just below Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis), making this an essential acquisition. Please check my feedback other auctions for fine jazz . thanks
