Chess/Argo 1000 (first Argo? we think so!)
After chess picked up the group from Mainline records (a small Philly label) an agreement was in place that Chess 1665, Long lonely nights, could only enter the regional market after the Mainline supply of 45s and 78s was exhausted. Instead of Mainline releasing the next record, chess agreed to press and release it as Chess 1675 and Argo 1000. The Argo records were sold and distributed through Mainline in the Philadelphia/So. Jersey/Delaware market. The story is that less than 500 were pressed. Books $600-$700.
