LED ZEPPELIN - PHYSICAL GRAFFITI

A beautiful copy of this increasingly rare and highly sought after 1975 UK pressing Led Zep double LP rock classic, with very early A1 B4 C2 D1 vinyl matrix numbers on the Swan Song record label, STEREO, SSK 89400

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1   SSK-89400 - A1  with stampers "C" and "C" at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock respectively

Side 2    SSK-89400 - B4  with stampers "D" and "4" at 8 o'clock and 2 o'clock respectively

Side 3    SSK-89400 - C2  with stampers "B" and "4" at 1 o'clock and 5 o'clock respectively

Side 4   SSK-89400 - D1  with stampers "C" and "3" at 9 o'clock and 2.30 o'clock respectively

The appearance and overall condition of the flat and nicely weighted vinyl is excellent plus (EX+). It is difficult to believe that this vinyl is a 45 year old antiquity - each side (all four of them) gleams, with a gorgeous jet black sheen and in normal daylight come across as completely unmarked. It is only with close scrutiny under a very bright light that just a few small and wispiest of wispy hairlines come into few along with the occasional small and very light paper scuff mark scuffs - not easy to detect, even under a bright light - nothing feelable, nothing below the surface, and all very trivial and superficial. Clearly this is a sparingly played LP (in my estimation less than 10).

The labels are excellent plus (EX+). Gorgeous condition labels with black text upon the smooth background and, of course, the iconic "SWAN SONG" logo, all in tip-top condition. The only blemishes (each very minor) are just a couple of small and extremely faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on the side 1 and side 4 labels - barely noticeable.

The condition of the Gothic Printers die-cut windows outer sleeve is a solid excellent (EX).  Just a couple of very small and non-obvious "nicks" along the opening edges and some extremely light and barely noticeable surface crease marks towards the bottom left corner, otherwise near perfect - no edge scuffing, nicely defined right angled corners with very minimal rubbing, and all of the die cuts in perfect condition with no tears or creases. All colours and art work remain beautifully rich and perfectly defined. Note the "KINGS ROAD..." text on the rear and the red lettering on the nicely wide thick edge which again are indicative of  very early UK press copies.

The cardboard custom inserts, with nicely thick cardboard, are pristine - virtually impossible to fault. Again note the "SSK 89400/A" and "SSK 89400/B" text indicators, in the reverse side bottom right corners - specific to very early UK pressings.

The bi-fold cardboard insert containing track titles and credits is in excellent plus (EX+) condition. No tears, rips, splits or creasing - just a couple of very, very light and small age discolouration marks which are nothing really. 

The quality of the audio is excellent plus (EX+) - if not better. Wonderful tone and clarity throughout, even at higher volume and on higher frequencies. No repeats, sticks, skips or clicks, and barely any crackle or interference - just the hint of some very, very mild background crackle at the very beginning of sides 1 and 3 but this is so trivial it is barely worth mentioning. Every track on this wonderful double LP makes for great listening...terrific stuff!

In summary a truly excellent plus condition and eminently presentable copy of this increasingly rare and sought after 1975 UK very early pressing Led Zeppelin rock classic - the whole double LP remains a tremendous listen....timeless, in fact. A "must" for any serious rock vinyl collection and will only continue to gain in value.

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard "crucifix" style mailer along with at least two thick cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
