Description
Led Zeppelin IV UK Plum/Red First Pressing Second Label Variant
Here is a nice copy of this classic by Led Zeppelin. A3 B3 matrix. I believe this is the second label variation with licensing wording in the white stripe and no Peter Grant credit. Porky and Pecko Duck mastering. IMO, there is no difference between this pressing and "earlier" pressings.
The vinyl is rated visually at VG+ with a moderate amount of wispy hairline marks and a few slightly deeper short lines. Very clean. Lies flat and steady.
Sonically the vinyl is closer to VG++ with only slight to some moderate crackle on the run ins. There are a few moderately louder ticks at the beginning of Stairway which is common and some light crackle evident during Going To California. No distortion anywhere on the LP.
The sleeve is in VG+ condition with very light spine wear. No writing on the outer sleeve. The inner sleeve has a slight stain at the bottom and a small tear. The owner wrote their name on the top right of the inner sleeve and the date of purchase (10-10-72) on the back upper left of the inner sleeve in small letters. There is a line of blue ink that was used to cross out some writing also above the date on the inner sleeve.
The Plum /Red labels look great with a couple smudges visible only under bright light and very light spindle wear.
Awesome sonics!
