1st and Earliest Pressing & Cover Information.
Very first UK issues were Cat No. 2401002 and had Peter Grant and Jimmy Page credit ABOVE the white band on the label after a disagreement he was reduced by Page to having NO Credit So early first 2401002 Pressings have the credits and usually are on A5/B5 or A7/B5 matrix -The LP was released as a second Red/Plum pressing with 2401-002 (a dash inserted between 2401 and 002) this omitted the Grant credit and Page credit was BELOW the white band - On the Question of covers there are basically just 2 types they look identical BUT 2401002 1st press should have track listing inside gatefold on the right hand side where as later 2401-002 normally have track listing on left hand side and usually say Made in Germany on the reverse and have SD7201 on the front cover
A RARE Original UK 1970 1st Press on the Red/Plum Atlantic Labels with Cat. No. 2401002 on Heavy Thick Vinyl that is in Exceptional near Perfect condition for 41 years of age - This copy has all the correct True and Genuine 100% Earliest 1st Press Details on the Vinyl and Cover with A5 & B5 Matrix endings - The Original 1st Press Atlantic Deluxe Fully Laminated Gatefold Cover with fully working front wheel Printed by E J Day Group London & Bedford and the Original Inner Sleeve that has ' KEEP THIS BAG AWAY FROM BABIES AND CHILDREN'' warning message at the bottom of sleeve - With the cover in Immaculate and near perfect condition!!! - Just so scarce these days and near impossible to find a vinyl copy of this Iconic Led Zeppelin Album that hasn't been Trashed and played to near Destruction at parties etc in the 1970s along with the Cover sleeve usually torn, marked, worn and tatty looking - Your probably thinking will I ever find that elusive copy where the Cover sleeve is in half decent order and Vinyl surfaces that still look overall respectable and barely played

ARTIST: LED ZEPPELIN
TITLE: III ( 3rd LP Release)
YEAR: 1970
CAT NO: 2401 002
LABEL & COLOUR: ATLANTIC Deluxe 'RED & PLUM'
COUNTRY: UK
MATRIX Nos: Very 1st PRESSING (A5 & B5)
All of my records That I'm selling are from my own personal collection that I have collected and cherished for over 45 years and which have been generally kept and looked after to the highest standard. All Records that I do offer will have NO Warps,Jumps, sticks, writing on covers or labels unless clearly stated in descriptions.
Vinyl Condition: EX Visually the vinyl is in excellent Condition - This 1st Press Vinyl at least has not been played into the ground like most - Has been carefully played a very minimal amount of times over the years but shows generally nothing but only light use over the last 40 years - With NO real bad scratches or marks only 1or 2 very fine light hairlines across the surfaces that doesn't affect the Audio Playback - When examined closer under a strong angled light it reveals nothing more than some usual insignificant minimal disc inner sleeve removal feint wispy light lines and light scuff marks here and there that absolutely have NO affect on the virtually near perfect audio playback (this doesn't in anyway detract from the overall excellent condition on both sides) - The vinyl still retains all its original jet black shiny gloss mirror like sheen and lustre - It would be very hard these days to find a better copy of this 1st Pressed record that plays without any problems!
Please Note: This record has been stored away and not touched or cleaned for most of it's 40 years it would obviously benefit from a professional clean before play as to reduce further any light static crackle that is still present and enhance even more the Audio performance
AUDIO PLAYBACK ASSESSMENT: - SUPERB UNINTERRUPTED CRYSTAL CLEAR CLARITY AND POWER ON AUDIO PLAYBACK END TO END - Audio is Graded as EX - NMINT - This vinyl visually looks like its not been played excessively and shows NO heavy marks or scratches and still looks a well cared for example - There are No major Clicks, pops, skips, jumps or repeats and shows No other annoying audio noise distortions during playback If I'm going to be Ultra Critical whilst listening through the playback you may get occasionally when the very quiet tracks begin to play or on the start of run ins and inbetween tracks and the very quieter elements of audio playback or if at all you may get some very light static crackle for a second or two and then it just fades away but absolutely nothing of any consequence on this 40 year old Classic that will spoil your overall enjoyment of this exceptional Iconic Classic Album - Overall its just a Fantastic listening Experience that comes from this near Perfect Dynamic Stereo Audio performance!!!
Cover Condition: EX+ Original 1st press E J Day fully laminated gatefold sleeve cover - This superb Cover is just exceptional and an amazing example showing all its original Bold and Vibrant rich colours like its near on 'Perfect' - That's totally intact with razor sharp straight edges and excellent pointed corners - The cover laminate outside and inside is amazing it looks to be virtually Unmarked - Flat crisp and incredibly clean and showing all it's original bold pristine vivid colours across the front and back and inside of gatefold sleeve that look all virtually near Perfect - The turning wheel works as good as New!! - I'm struggling to find any blemishes worthwhile to mention - If I look very closely and hard there is some as usual mild and very slight yellow ageing edge tinges and a light touch of rub on the pointed tip corners and that's it!!! And I do mean light! it's not that noticeable (this doesn't in anyway detract from the overall exceptional and near mint condition of cover) and it probably would be very hard these days to find another one and to Improve on this cover!!!
Labels Condition: Nr MINT The labels being the Original Atlantic Red & Plum labels which look Immaculate are just Superb being very clean and virtually unmarked they look near perfect with NO real wear around the spindle hole to mention - Very little evidence showing of Spindle usage marks or trails across either of the Labels with No real wear around the spindle hole which still look in exceptional condition its very evident that when it was ever played it was done so very carefully that there is only light minimal traces showing of any audio play!!!
Spine Condition: Nr MINT The Laminate Spine is very clean intact and virtually near perfect - With all written text still showing to be bold clear legible and still perfectly worded as it was originally printed!!!
Inner Sleeve: EX+ The original white polylined record company sleeve is Immaculate and looks Exceptional in an original very clean intact condition and shows no evidence of any real handling wear over its lifetime - Absolutely NO Tears,Splits,Ink Writting,Stickers or other Blemishes apart from some mild yellow aging tinges around the edges
I'm currently sorting through some of my other Rarer vinyl records that have been played only a few times which are mainly UK 1st PRESSINGS - Which are all in Excellent to Mint Condition - Mainly due to Covers/Vinyl have been kept in thick plastic covers and Stored in superb dry storage conditions for all of their Life Span and this is one of them
