VINYL: EXC+.....At first glance, the vinyl appears NM to NM+....practically unplayed. I examined it in various strong light including strong sunshine and found little evidence of any wearwhatsoever. I had this record listed last week for only a day or two when an interested party asked if I had it examined under a super-strong UV light of any kind. I hadn't, but thought that perhaps I should. I knew the owner of a record store who had the kind of strong light I needed. I'm glad i did this because we found some light scattered paper scuffs here and there on each side....just enough to where one would want to drop the grade a little since it is being sold sight-unseen via mail-order. (at a record show everyone felt this could be listed as, and sold briskly at, a NM grade) . Play-graded (plays fine).
Besides the owner of the store, there were two other advanced collectors-dealers who both gave the same grade the owner did of NM- to this record and felt they were being perhaps a bit conservative and agreed under normal lighting conditions the records appears NM+. One suggested grading it a little lower, at Exc+, to avoid any difference of opinion from even the harshest of critics, and I am in agreement with that mind-set.
The history of this album is important too. It came from the collection of a very, VERY fastidious collector who played his albums only once to record them and then file them away as Archive-Copies. Some earlier albums may of been played twice or even three times on occasion when he re-recorded them years later after acquiring a more sophisticated recording system. This album is obviously one of those albums he only played 2-3 times. There are no spindle marks or wear of any kind around the hole and the label itself is pristine which testifies to its little to no use. This record is NOT totally flawless...and not mint....but what it is, is a very solid high-grade and very well-cared for, pampered copy which is just an all-around beauty. There are not too many original pressings of LZ III which one knows how many times it was actually played unless it is an unused copy.
COVER: EXC+-or BETTER; Even though it still has its shrink wrap, there are some areas towards the front corners that have a little wear where the shink wrap was not protecting it so they have a little wear. Also, there are some splits in the shrink (although it still fits very tightly), but I believe the splits in the shrink have allowed air in over the passage of time so as to turn the once bright white cover to a slightly less bright white on the back cover ...it's not really in any one place in particular...just sort of a scattered light age look that is less bright than the front (at least to me)....nothing drastic of course, but between that and the light wear on the end corners, it's hard to give it a NM although I think most people would grade it as NM anyway, but I think Exc+ or better is a good grade.
The cover is a Gatefold design cover and the pin-wheel sitll works and shows no wear or abuse whatsoever.

This is a BEAUTIFUL copy of this early example Led Zeppelin album...with all the right markings and sound qualities that make it a sought-after edition for any collector. We have priced it very low to allow everyone a chance at owning it. Good luck-!
