Another from my personal collection of over 50,00 UK albums that I have acquired over the last 45 years or more! Here is an original UK pressing of Led Zeppelin II lp on the 2nd issue Orange and green Atlantic labels (featuring No Warner logo on the rim text!) A very scarce and hard to find early variation. The album is very tidy and the vinyls play back is stunning clear and very vibrant plays almost as good as new and graded near mint in my opinion. These are becoming very collectable in this top condition!

Led Zeppelin II is the second studio album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, released in October 1969 on Atlantic Records.




Recording sessions for the album took place at several locations in the United Kingdom and North America from January to August 1969.




 Production was credited to lead guitarist and songwriter Jimmy Page, while it also served as Led Zeppelin's first album to utilise the recording techniques of engineer Eddie Kramer.




With elements of blues and folk music, Led Zeppelin II also exhibits the band's evolving musical style of blues-derived material and their guitar and riff-based sound. It has been described as the band's heaviest album.




Led Zeppelin II was conceived during a hectic and much-travelled period of Led Zeppelin's career from January through August 1969, when they completed four European and three American concert tours.




 Each song was separately recorded, mixed and produced at various studios in the UK and North America.




The album was written on tour, during periods of a couple of hours in between concerts, a studio was booked and the recording process begun, resulting in a sound with spontaneity and urgency through necessity.







Bassist John Paul Jones recalled that "We were touring a lot. Jimmy Page's riffs were coming fast and furious. A lot of them came from onstage especially during the long improvised section of 'Dazed and Confused'. We'd remember the good stuff and dart into a studio along the way."






Some of the recording studios used by the band were not the most advanced. One studio in Vancouver, credited as "a hut", had an 8-track set up that did not even have proper headphone facilities.




 The group's lead singer Robert Plant later discussed the writing and recording process, stating "It was crazy really. We were writing the numbers in hotel rooms and then we'd do a rhythm track in London, add the vocal in New York, overdub the harmonica in Vancouver and then come back to finish mixing at New York."




"Thank You", "The Lemon Song" and "Moby Dick" were overdubbed during the tour, while the mixing of "Whole Lotta Love" and "Heartbreaker" was also done on tour.

The Vinyl
The vinyl is clean and lays flat on the turntable it is free of any warping. On inspection I find it hard to see any scratches or marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops during the playback. Any other marks that could possibly be seen would be sleeve removal type scuffs only at least there is nothing that had an adverse effect on the audio quality that I heard on my systems!

The Audio
I have played the vinyl at very loud volume on a top system prior to this listing. The audio was absolutely superb, very vibrant through out without any loud constant clicks or pops and certainly no distortion from being over played at all!  Any static that might be heard was isolated and a constant clean before each play will enhance the audio quality because this album has been stored laying dormant for over 40 years! I would grade the audio at least excellent plus to very near mint for the most part! Exceptionally vibrant throughout! (Hear the complete album for yourself in the player above)

Please note I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd isolated static /tick/light pop that may be heard in perhaps quieter places during the play of this vinyl, but nothing consistent though out the audio. Please remember that this is an original 40 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 40 year old system.
A constant clean before each play is highly recommended because this vinyl has been stored in a box and laying dormant for a long time. A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static. A constant clean before each play will reduce any static and enhance the audio quality.

The Labels
These are the 2nd issue green/orange Atlantic labels very clean. One of the earliest variations (No Warner logo on the labels) Even when angled to the light it is hard to see no more than barely a handful of spider marks around the spindle hole  No spindle wear the hole is perfectly round! All indications are that this has barely ever been played no more than a handful of times ever in my opinion!

The Record Sleeve
This is the original plain white paper sleeve . Light creasing with age only no splits or tears.

The Cover
This is the original and early UK un-laminaned Gothic Printers gate fold cover. Amaizingly no real creases to mention on the front or the inside of this cover, only if looked for I see very small creases at the rear bottom edge,  but not noticed unless looked for in my opinion. There are no edge splits or tears. Any rubbing or other marks ,again you have to look for them to notice any.   All text is readable and the spine is superb and square. Very very hard to find these early originals in this top condition. I would grade this cover at least excellent plus in my opinion.
