LED ZEPPELIN II Robert Ludwig RL SS 1969 1st U.S. pressing on ATLANTIC SD 8236 with 1841 Broadway address on labels pressed at Presswell as indicated by the PR in the runouts and on the labels. Mastered at Sterling Sound with "SS" in the deadwax on both sides as is the infamous "RL" etched on both sides as the mastering engineer. Rare Robert Ludwig HOT MIX featuring a full, loud, sparkling mix that was quickly withdrawn due to it's ravaging power to be replaced by the more common neutered mix. This is a fine example in VERY NEAR VG+ condition. I have seen numerous copies of this album and NONE I have seen have been in anything better than VG. This was from only the very first run of LP's, and most copies are typically trashed and scratched and dinged up. This one I can hear the reverb from the drums and guitars clearly which is hard to due with excessive surface noise. The mix is loud and boomy so even trashed copies of the Ludwig mastered release are quite listenable, this one isn't trashed. Crackle here and there but nothing too distracting, Probably the most noticeable crackle was during the "Moby Dick" solo.I played the album all the way through on my stereo with a Technics turntable through Klipsch speakers and through Sony Monitor headphones.

VINYL in VG condition but 90% plays VG+. Hairlines and light marks on vinyl that causes some background crackle noticeable in quieter passages (not too many of those on this record), non-distracting. The only issue I heard is a short jump in between songs on side 1, right  between "The Lemon Song" and "Thank You". Talk about lucking out, a perfect place for a jump as it doesn't seem to break the flow of the record. It's caused by a tiny scratch that causes a few clicks for a few rotation in the beginning of "Thank You", then comes back at the very end of the song during the fade out for a few rotations of repeating crackle/pops. This is the only issue I found, very strong VG overall, very close to VG+ and one of the cleanest copies I have heard!
COVER in VG with staining, corner bumps, chipping/wear around top and bottom seams, all seams are intact except a 2" split on the top seam near the opening. The spine is readable and just a bit of rubbing. 2" split seen on inside of gatefold (see photos).
INNER SLEEVE in VG seams all split 2" around the center, still intact.
