Believe the hype, the Robert Ludwig "Hot Mix" cut absolutely slams!
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin II
- Rare 1969 Original Stereo 1st Presswell Pressing gatefold vinyl LP with Robert Ludwig "Hot Mix" mastering ("RL" and "ss") on both sides.
- Matrix / Runout (Side A Runout Variant 1): ST-A-691671-C RL SS P LW W AT
- Matrix / Runout (Side B Runout Variant 1): ST-A-691672-A P LW AT RL SS W
- "US 1st pressing (with the 1841 Broadway address on the labels), featuring Robert Ludwig's "hot" mastering on both sides. These were withdrawn early because the high bass levels caused low-grade cartridges to mistrack, leading people to return the album on the belief that it was defective. Another engineer was then hired to recut a much less "hot" version of the album, and that is the far more common version. On some copies the Sterling Sound credit, "SS", appears in both runouts following Ludwig's "RL", and on others the "SS" appears only in the Side Two runout. The "RL" will still appear in both runouts. Comes in a gatefold sleeve. This sub should only be used for copies with "RL" in both runouts. Later transitional pressings which featuring "RL" on only one side and another engineer's work on the other should receive their own subs." (Quote from Discogs).

GRADING: Record Grade: VG+ (Side One: light scattered surface noise noted in quieter passages with minimal impact on sound quality and several light pops in beginning of "Whole Lotta Love" / Side Two: light scattered surface noise noted in quieter passages with minimal impact on sound quality and several scattered light pops). Sleeve Grade: VG+ (moderate edge and corner wear with bump and small crease to bottom left corner and wear to bottom right corner. Some fading to spine. Light stain to top right edge and light scuffing on back cover).
Inner Sleeve Grade: VG+ (1" splits on both sides, slight edge and corner wear) Please see listing photos for an accurate representation of condition.
All LPs are PLAY TESTED. LPs are from a private collection and have been lovingly cared for and stored in protective sleeves and will be shipped using sturdy Whiplash LP mailers. Vinyl will be shipped in a MoFi Master Sleeve (or their equivalent) outside the cover to prevent seam splits during shipping. The LP will be shipped by USPS Media Mail. All mailings will include a tracking number and delivery confirmation. Thank you.
