LED ZEPPELIN II RL Robert Ludwig HOT MIX SS Presswell PR. Robert Ludwig credits on both sides, as well as SS indicating Sterling Sound Presswell. Matrix side 1: ST - A - 691671 - C RL LW W AT Matrix side 2: ST - A - 691672 - A P LW AT RL W
Vinyl condition visually G+ with several marks. Play graded more VG with noticeable crackle in quieter pops, but because of the loud mix of this record, when the music gets going it rocks like a Ludwig mix should, airy and full!! Did not skip on my system (Technics direct drive with 2 grams on the stylus).
Cover in VG because of some paper loss to the front as well as some paper loss on the edges, seams are intact and solid. Some staining on the front, a "SM" initials on the inside gatefold as well as a faint "Chuck Miller" in pen on the brown segment on the upper left hand side of the inside gatefold.
Original Atlantic inner sleeve included.

US 1st pressing (with the 1841 Broadway address on the labels), featuring Robert Ludwig's "hot" mastering on both sides. These were withdrawn early because the high bass levels caused low-grade cartridges to mistrack, leading people to return the album on the belief that it was defective. Another engineer was then hired to recut a much less "hot" version of the album, and that is the far more common version.On some copies the Sterling Sound credit, "SS", appears in both runouts following Ludwig's "RL", and on others the "SS" appears only in the Side Two runout. The "RL" will still appear in both runouts.
This sub should only be used for copies with "RL" in both runouts, as only these are the true "RL" pressings which command hundreds of dollars (albeit in Near Mint condition). Later transitional pressings which featuring "RL" on only one side and another engineer's work on the other should receive their own subs.
"PR" in label matrix denotes a Presswell pressing.
