LED ZEPPELIN II RL Robert Ludwig HOT MIX First U.S. pressing on Atlantic Records with 1841 Broadway address on the labels.
RARE 1st edition! The first side has RL for Robert Ludwig and "SS" for Sterling Sound. Side Two has LH for Lee Hulko as it was apparently mastered for vinyl by him, but according to Ludwig himself, this was most likely done by Ludwig, and I can attest that there is no difference between the two side, even the size of the dead wax is consistent with other RL cuts and should be treated as such. Fantastic mastering.
The audio quality is great on this release, I play tested the LP all the way through, and it one of the better sounding Robert Ludwig copies I have been in possession of. Most every copy of this is beat up and scratched with significant surface noise and skips. This copy has paper scuffs as opposed to deep scratches.
VINYL in VG condition, VERY close to VG+. Several very light paper scuffs and marks. The only flaw is one skip at the first chorus of "Whole Lotta Love". This happens only once. This copy does have a few instances of static and minor groove wear, but overall the background crackle is minimal and soft, only noticeable in quiet areas and in between tracks. Even quieter tracks like the end of "Thank You" is not marred by noise like most copies of this release, very soft background crackle, no repeating clicks.
COVER in VG condition. Chipping on seams and spine, and an area of the middle spine where the record started to come through (see photo details). The top seam is split 5" halfway from the opening, corner wear. The white sections of the cover are slightly yellowed.
Free shipping for domestic buyers, will be safely shipped in proper mailer with record removed to avoid splitting.

Early press information:This is the early pressing mastered at Sterling Sound by Bob Ludwig denoted by RL on side one and by Lee Hulko denoted by LH on side two.
Hulko was in charge of remastering some of side two which was the side that was causing the troubles with the original 2 sided RL mastered versions.
Ahmet Ertegün brought home a copy for his daughter, it skipped on her turntable so he had it recut to be less dynamic and less fleshed out in the bass.
It was certain parts in Ramble On and Moby Dick which were causing the needles to jump on certain turntables when the record first came out because of the bass. So they had Lee Hulko remaster side two.
Labels include "CTH" suffix (indicating Terre Haute pressing) and "Mfg By Atlantic Recording Corp., 1841 Broadway, New York, N.Y.".
The dead wax side two is slightly narrower than that on side one.
Later press information:
If this doesn't have "SS RL" and "SS LH" etched in the run-outs then it is a repress - remastered at Atlantic, rather than Sterling Sound.
Around 200,000ish pressings were done of Robert Ludwig's 'high mix' which, like Hendrix's 'Ladyland' 1st masters, caused some poor-quality phonograph needles to 'skip'. Thus, a repress ordered by Ertegün at Atlantic.
