Description

I will declare a lower amount on the customs form for all countries so as to avoid/decrease high import charges.  However, in the case of the EU all purchases are subject to VAT which eBay collect at point of sale.  No shipping to Russia currently.   Led Zeppelin II A2 / B2 2nd Press Red / Plum Label 1969
This is without doubt one of the finest second pressings of this classic album that I have ever encountered.  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is sensational and there is only minimal intrusion.  In fact the only real interference is two dull clicks right at the end of 'Thank You' but aside from that it is one of the cleanest versions I have ever heard.  The highlights here are too numerous to mention really - to summarise it S1 is superb and S2 is stunning and then some!  A few seconds of light static on 'Bring It On Home' but nothing intrusive.
The E.J. Day cover is one of a rare breed i.e. it remains in excellent condition!  It is still very clean with only minimal wear and has retained its original shape and structure perfectly.  It is one of the lighter brown shades but not the lightest.  The original Plastic Bags inner (dated 0171) is in great condition with only minimal wear.    This second pressing came straight after the incorrect 'Wreck' pressing and still has the A2 / B2 matrix and the Copyright Control credit on the labels.  It also has 'The Lemon Song' and 'Thankyou' credits on the S1 label.

Visual description
The vinyl is in excellent condition and still has a strong glossy sheen with no obvious marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can see some faint hairlines and there are a couple of 'haze' / 'bag rash' sections on S2 but they are superficial as they have no affect on the superb audio.  There is no groove or surface wear and the run out grooves are very clean.  The iconic red / plum Atlantic labels have only some light spotting on the plum sections but you can only see it when you tilt the vinyl at a certain angle.  There is no spindle wear on S1 and only a minimal amount on S2.
Play Grading
The classic intro on 'Whole Lotta Love' plays with stunning clarity - there are only a couple of minor statics at the start and then Plant's opening vocal section is faultless.  It continues in the same way and the psychedelic section is incredible.  Each note is so clean and precise and there is nothing to detract from the audio.  I cannot remember when I last heard this section play so clearly.  Bonham's reintroduction is so strong and clear and Page's 'solo' is equal to that as is the next vocal passage.  The quiet Way down inside vocal is close to perfect with only 2/3 insignificant statics and the remainder plays with genuine quality and the fade out has no background.  I'll say Near Mint although that may be under-selling it!   The quiet opening vocal section on 'What Is And What Should Never Be' plays with great clarity and warmth and the first high octane chorus is very clean with no distortion.  The next quiet verse has no intrusion and it continues to play with exceptional quality.  Page's first restrained solo is perfect as is the following instrumental.  From then on it plays so well and I only heard three quiet ticks during the quiet If you wake up with the sunrise vocal.  The 'louder' passages play with great definition and there is no distortion and no 'muddiness' to the sound.  No clicks or pops and no underlying static either and even long fade out plays very clearly with only a couple of very quiet ticks towards the end.  Near Mint-
The intro on 'The Lemon Song' plays perfectly (a rarity!) and Plant's opening vocal is on the same level.  The first high octane section with Page, Bonham and Jones going at it is STUNNING and again there is no distortion on the top end.  Jones' bass sound could not be any stronger or deeper or clearer, another sign the record has been very well looked after.  The 'quieter' section with Jones leading the way plays with incredible clarity and depth once more and the powerful closing instrumental ends this classic with supreme audio.  I think Mint- is deserved here.
Any Led Zepp collector will know that 'Thank You' often plays with a fair amount of static / distortion.  The entire build up intro here is STUNNING because there is no background at all.  The quiet opening vocal is very close to that with only a hint of super quiet static and the following 'louder' vocal plays with great definition and no intrusion.  The 'acoustic' instrumental is so clean and the quiet ....so today the world it smiles... vocal plays with sublime clarity also.  The even quieter ... If the sun refused to shine vocal passage is superb!  There is barely any static and the instrumental / organ section that follows is very similar.  Stunning audio!  The fade out / in / out section is one of the cleanest I have ever heard and as it descends into near silence there is no background!  As the audio comes back in there are two dull clicks which is a shame but that is the only intrusion across the entire track.  I think Near Mint is fair for the majority and only the final 2/3 seconds grades as VG - a superb version overall though.

The intro on 'Heartbreaker' has no intrusion and the opening vocal is just as clean and precise.  The instrumental bridge is so strong and deep - Page's 'sound' is superb, sonically it is fantastic.  The next vocal section is just as impressive and it continues to play with a quality that is second to none.  The high octane mid section is a prime example of that - the depth and power of the audio is incredible.  Page's stand alone section again plays with exceptional clarity and the following instrumental is breathtaking!  This is exactly why the red / plum pressings are so collectable - when you find a clean vinyl audio wise they just cannot be beaten.  The final vocal / instrumental have no background and this may well be the most 'complete' version of this classic that I have ever heard.  It's certainly been a long time since I last heard one as definitive as this and Mint is 100% deserved.
'Livin' Lovin' Maid...' is of the same high end standard with no background of any kind.  One of Page's greatest riffs in my opinion and it could not play any better.  Another Mint version no need for a minus here.  No intrusion, no distortion etc.
The acoustic intro on 'Ramble On' plays beautifully with just one very quiet static tick, easily missed.  The opening vocal is flawless and following chorus is on a par with that.  The sonic quality cannot be faulted and it proceeds in precisely the same way.  Seriously this record has been so well preserved!  The clarity and depth of the audio can only be described 'as new' and Jones' bass is very much in evidence.  It has a very rich, deep sound and only the long fade out has some light static here and there.  I will grade it as Near Mint+ because of that but as per my description the main 'bulk' of the track is perfect.
The intro on 'Moby Dick' has no background and again the depth and definition of the audio is 10/10.  The first part of Bonham's solo is crystal clear and it continues to impress even during the quieter 'moments'.  The clarity is stunning and I only 'heard' a handful of super quiet statics and by that I really do mean barely audible!  As the pace and volume pick up the audio is superb and the clarity of sound is just out of this world.  The closing section has zero intrusion and this grades as Mint- all the way.
The bass / harmonica intro on 'Bring It On Home' plays very clearly with only the bare minimum of light static at the start for a couple of seconds.  The opening vocal section is very similar with only a little more static for 4/5 seconds but it's certainly not loud, still in the background.  The first riff section is superb and the first vocal is strong and powerful with only very minimal inner groove distortion.  Absolutely nothing to worry about!  The instrumental bridge is perfect and the next vocal is similar to the first.  The final riff is stunning and the quiet end section has hardly any static.  Ranging between Ex+ and Near Mint is an honest assessment of the audio and it completes what is one stunning side of music!
The E.J. Day Gatefold & Inner Sleeve
The cover is in excellent condition (a rarity!) with only a little shelf wear.  The edges have some light rubbing and the spine is for once still wide and strong with only minimal wear on the corners and a small number of minor rubs on one edge.  The right hand corners have some light wear and the opening edge is pristine!  The front cover is very clean with 3/4 tiny 'spots' on the white background and just a little fading / surface rub near the bottom edge.  The back cover is in superb condition also with hardly any surface rub and the inside of the gatefold has only a couple of small faint marks and some of the usual lifting on the right panel next to the spine.  A fine example though and rarely seen in this condition.
The original poly-lined 'Plastic Bags...' inner (dated 0171) is in great condition with only some glue related marking along the top and bottom edges.  It holds the poly-lining and the paper sleeve together and often 'deteriorates' over time.  There are no side splits or tears and hardly any creasing.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
