Description
LED ZEPPELIN II - 1969 FIRST US PRESSING RECORD ROBERT LUDWIG "HOT MIX" BOTH SIDES
Original "Led Zeppelin II" first US pressing. This is the "Hot Mix" with narrow runout on side 2. Robert Ludwig "RL" and "SS" etched in wax runouts on both sides. This is a Presswell pressing as indicated on the LP labels. I describe and grade honestly and conservatively, I want the buyer to be happy with their purchase. Photos are of the actual album in this auction. When it comes to the best sounding version of this album, this is the one.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Gatefold cover sleeve in overall VG+ condition front and back and inside. Only mild edge wear on top and bottom and opening side shows minor wear. Colors outside and especially inside still vibrant and strong. No cover seam splits top or bottom or issues with folding inner spine crease. Outside spine has minor fading and edge wear on top and bottom.
Two minor items of note with the gatefold cover, one being a bit of the black ink printing on the "II" on the front cover is incomplete although it doesn't appear to be due to a sticker being pulled off that area in the past, it looks like a slight printing error. Second is someone wrote "Brinton" on the plain cardstock inside of the gatefold sleeve where the record is enclosed. Both issues are noted with green arrows in the included photos.
Original Atlantic paper inner color sleeve is intact with strong color and minor 2 inch splitting on top left side. There is noticeable creasing on the corners, likely from the sleeve/record being pushed into the gatefold and stored unplayed for a very long period of time.
Record is in overall VG+ condition. Visually, the record has strong gloss and looks clean with only small, widely scattered light paper sleeve scuffs that do not affect play on both sides and a pair of noticeable scratches (likely a couple needle drags) on side 2 that result in pops/ticks through much of "Ramble On." Side A plays VG+ to EX- with very little surface noise. Side B plays VG+ except for most of "Ramble On" due to the noted pair of scratches which I would play grade at VG. Labels have very little spindle wear, still have strong color and only minor wear. Entire record has been play graded both on stock Music Hall 7.3 and Thorens TD 60 Turntables and there are no skips.
