LED ZEPPELIN HOUSES OF THE HOLY A3/B3 1973 Atlantic
On offer here is the final studio album on Atlantic before they formed their own 'Swan Song' record label. It is the first on the green/orange label also.

Visual grading
There are a very small number of fine hairlines on each side and there are no scratches. I cannot detect any spindle wear so has obviously been played very little. It still has a lovely glossy sheen and is an excellent example of this album.
Play grading
'The Song Remains The Same' plays with excellent clarity and only a little static can be heard here and there. The majority of 'The Rain Song' plays quietly and taking that into consideration it plays very well on a vinyl of this age. There are a number of light static sounds but they are largely in the background and there are no loud clicks or pops. There is a little more interference towards the end which can also be heard on the intro of 'Over The Hills And Far Away'. This track then displays excellent depth and very little other interference apart from some soft clicks at the end. 'The Crunge' ends the side with great audio and very little background noise, just a hint of static and distortion. Don't let this put you off though, it still plays a lot better than so many I have heard on these early pressings.
'Dancing Days' on Side Two begins with some audible static in the background but this soon disappears and the remainder of the track plays very clearly with just some static to be heard every now and then. Overall though it has excellent clarity. 'D'yer Mak'er' is an great version. Yes some of the ubiquitous static but again it is very in the background so is not intrusive. All in all though a wonderful version of this song. 'No Quarter' plays well with no loud pops, jumps or skips but does have some crackle that is more obvious in the quieter sections. In saying that it isn't what I would call 'loud' crackle and it remains a very good listen. 'The Ocean' closes the album with excellent quality and with only a little crackle during the quiet 'la la' middle section and right at the end.
Gatefold cover
The Hipgnosis gatefold is in excellent condition with very little shelf wear. The edges and spine are in great shape with hardly any wear and the corners have only a hint of rubbing. The opening edge is very clean with minimal handling wear and the inside of the gatefold is in superlative condition with no marking whatsoever. The front and back cover have a ringwear 'line' towards the top but this is the only obvious shelf wear immediately visible. This gatefold has certainly been very well cared for down the years.
Lyric sleeve
Printed by MacNeill Press it has a 6cm split to the right hand edge and a few small age related marks but remains in very good condition nonetheless. You will find so many of these in much poorer condition than this one.
The Labels
They are both in superb condition with no spindle wear or marking at all. Stunning!
