LED ZEPPELIN

“HOUSES OF THE HOLY”

MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original Atlantic Records second STEREO press released by Atlantic Records, made and distributed in Chile in 1975 by Asociación Fonográfica Nacional “ASFONA”, M.R. (ASFONA Records), licensed from Atlantic Records, U.S.A. (uncredited), catalog number SD-7255, with hand etched matrix numbers SD-7255-A EB-C in Side A and SD-7255-B EB-C in Side B, with traditional red/black Atlantic Records labels of the period. It’s interesting to notice that in the deadwax of both sides it’s written the exact day of pressing, “31-10-75” (October 31th of 1975). Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

“Houses Of the Holy” was originally released on Atlantic Records in 1973 in USA and UK, and we had to wait until 1975 to see this legendary rock album, which included the legendary masterpieces “The Song Remains The Same” and “D’yer Mak’er”, released here in Chile as part of the “Serie Especial De Lujo” (Special Deluxe Serie) of Asfona Records. And we got it with an UNIQUE flipback cover, made of 2 single pieces of thin cardboard with front cover pasted on the flips of back cover. Front cover keeps strictly the original US artwork, with additional album title at top edge, name of the band at bottom edge and the ASFONA Records logo at the top right corner. Back cover also keeps the original US artwork but it’s black and white and it has tracklist and full credits written in English only, with the Atlantic Records logo and catalog number at top left corner, Asfona credits at bottom edge, “El Disco Es Cultura” (The Record Is Culture) logo at bottom left corner and “Serie Especial De Lujo” written at top left corner below the Atlantic Records logo. In labels, album title and tracklist are written in English only, with full credits for songwriters. So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE PRESS of this classic rock album by Led Zeppelin, with UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, BLACK AND WHITE BACK COVER and even the exact day of pressing!!! It’s very interesting to notice that date of pressing of the record is the same for the first and second press, it means the first and seconds pressings have the same records, the only difference is the blue-tinted or black and white back covers, blue-tinted for the very first press and black and white for second pressings!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Led Zeppelin and hard/progressive rock!!! Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from this side of the world!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in nice VG- or VG condition, clean and complete, with severe wear in all edges, more evident in back cover, with creases, light ring marks, some small tears, faint blemishes and little holes caused by brackets at top, bottom and spine edges, with a pink paper glued in front cover (at top of the “H” of word “Houses”); in this cover someone taped the edges but the tape was removed and the flaps of back cover were also removed, so this flipback cover looks now like 2 single cardboards for front and back covers, but some past owner used a plastic bag to keep them together and I guess it has worked very well, so I guess it’s a good idea to keep it, after all the artwork has not been affected. The record is in nice VG- or VG condition both sides, glossy and clean, with many scuffs, light hairlines and soft and not so soft scratches of all sizes and in all directions, which amazingly don’t affect play at all. Labels are in VG or VG+ condition both sides, clean and clear, with severe spindle hole wear and a piece of “art” done around the spindle hole by some past owner. The sound is in strong VG- or VG condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with soft constant crackles and regular light clicks and pops, more evident in the quiet parts of songs and in the silence between tracks, which of course don’t cause major distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, this is a great record, sure not for Minty minds or audiophiles, but sure it’s still a record with a nice look, not bad labels and with still a great sound quality after about 48 years, which won’t disappoint anyone and will satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this second Chilean press of “Houses Of The Holy”!!! WOW!!! And keep in mind the UNIQUE COVER, the UNIQUE FRONT and BACK COVER DESIGNS, the BLACK AND WHITE BACK COVER and even the date of pressing written in the deadwax!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the cover and labels in detail.

_________________________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
