  LED ZEPPELIN

same

Atlantic SD 8216 RARE '69 pressing with odd plum/brown label. Rumours of different mix are unproven, though silence between "Black Mountain Side" and "Communication Breakdown" is longer than standard copies.
From bsnpubs label discography site:

Another Atlantic label variation was used on a few titles during 1968 and early 1969, where the Atco label blank was used instead of the Atlantic label blank. These may have been RCA Record Club pressings. The label was purple at the top and gold on the bottom, with black printing. A white band ran through the record slightly above the center, as on the Atco label and unlike the Atlantic design of the time where the white band was centered. The black printing graphics were the same as the "black fan label," except the word "STEREO" appeared under the left side of the white band running across the middle of the label (like the Atco stereo label and unlike the black fan label's positioning of "STEREO" in white letters at the top of the label). This label is rare and only appeared on a few titles from around 8130 to 8200. Both Time Peace by the Rascals [SD 8190] and the first Led Zeppelin album [SD 8216] are known to have been pressed with this labeling error. The Led Zeppelin album error commands premium prices, since not only is the label in error, but side 1 of the album is a different mix from the regular pressing.

And From Audiophile Steve Hoffman site A couple comments by people who've heard it:
"So, The listing for this on that other site claims this contains a different mix than the regular 69 issues. I honestly, for some reason do not have an original standard release to compare it to. I've searched the web for info on this "alternate mix" and cant seem to find anything. Anyone got the 411 on this alternate mix. What are the differences? Why it exists and how it got used for this one specific pressing (which comes the RCA plant in Indiana)
The listing also claims there is a pause between Black Mountian side and Communication Breakdown, which I have confirmed. I have also confirmed the super long silence between Communication Breakdown and I Can't Quit You Babe."       John Davey, May 16, 2018
"I've seen lots of declarations like that... just like the ones on discogs, from several different people claiming the mix is different, with no further info, such as remarks after listening to it...
Well I just listened to the needledrop I made of it. My poor stylus. It does sound very different... because the left & right channels are swapped. Things that you are used to hearing coming from the right channel, now come from the left, etc. Maybe this helps explain the "different mix" myth."  Super Fuzz, June 5, 2018
