Up for auction is a rare original white label promo copy of the group’s third Atlantic LP release from 1970 entitled “LED ZEPPELIN III.” 

Led Zeppelin, an English rock band that formed in September 1968, consisted of Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Bonham, and John Paul Jones.  With their heavy, guitar-driven sound, Led Zeppelin are regarded as one of the first heavy metal bands.  Their rock infused interpretation of the blues also incorporated rockabilly, reggae, soul, funk, jazz, classical, Celtic, Indian, Arabic, folk, pop, Latin, and country.  For more detailed information about the band, please click on the following link:

This album is issued on the ATLANTIC label, catalog number SD 7201.  The jacket is gatefold construction, with a wheel that spins to reveal various images inside a dozen or so small peep holes on the front of the jacket.  The record is mastered in mono, at a time when mono was being virtually phased out of domestic production. 

Guaranteed to be original and authentic.  I do not sell boots or modern reissues.

Jacket:  Condition of jacket is overall very nice.  Virtually no wear or problems, except that the original owner wrote her name neatly in red ballpoint pen on the front of the jacket at upper left corner, and also coloured-in the word “LED” on the black “contents” sticker affixed to the front of the jacket in the upper right corner.  Otherwise, the jacket would grade EX to NM.

Vinyl:  Vinyl is in overall fine condition.  Appears to have been played a very small number of times, perhaps even once or twice.  However, there is a short but somewhat audible scuff on Side 2, Track 1  (Gallows Pole).  The scuff begins midway through the track, and continues onto the beginning of the second track, however it is only audible for a brief time midway through the first track.  I have included a photo scan showing the location of the scuff.  I have also included a sound clip of the entire track (Gallows Pole) and the early portion of the following track (Tangerine) so you can hear the effects for yourself.  I don’t think it is too much of a problem, but the scuff will be audible on a quality turntable and I want to give as much information as possible to help you in your bidding decisions.  The remainder of the side and all of the first side are flawless near mint.
