Rare hungarian original of Laszlo Dubrovay's Concertos, an eclectic mix of avant-garde works partly with electronics.
Some info on the release: Rare original issue, released in Hungary sometime in the 80's on the great Hungaroton label (John Cage, Steve Reich, Laszlo Sary, Peter Eotvos, Zoltan Pongracz, Attila Bozay, Zoltan jeney, Gyorgy Kurtag, Istvan Matuz, Mate Victor, Ivan Patachich, etc.). Includes Dubrovay's Concerto No.4 for piano, synthesizer and orchestra, Concerto No.1 for 11 strings, and Concerto No.2 for trumpet and 15 strings. A must to discover!!
Lázsló Dubrovay was born in Budapest on 23 March 1943, he attented the Béla Bartók Conservatory and the Academy of Music, graduating in 1966. His professors of composition were István Szelényi, Ferenc Szabó and Imre Vincze. With a scholarship of the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD), he continued his studies in West Germany between 1972 and 1974; he took courses in composition with Karlheinz Stockhausen and in electronic music with Hans-Ulrich Humpert. In 1975, Dubrovay was commissioned by Westdeutscher Rundfunk, Cologne, to realise the electronic composition Sóhaj (Sigh) in the electronic studios of WDR. Since 1976, he has taught music theory at the Budapest Academy of Music. In 1985, he spent a year in West Berlin within the framework of the Berliner Künstlerprogramm. László Dubrovay has realised electronic and computer music in the electronic studios of WDR, the West Berlin University of Technology, in Freiburg, Stockholm, Bourges and Budapest.
Condition: Vinyl lies in very good condition, looks to have some signs of being played (spot and mark at the end on side a:, marks at the beggining of side b:) and plays with light surface noise and crackle, while cover lies in very good+ shape, with age wear (see picture).
