LARY SEVEN & JIM SHARPE (+ MOUNTAIN) -- Burlap Fantasy/Burlap Breaks (incorporating "Mississippi Queen") -- ex. rare, original 2002 double-7" single release w/ burlap insert. In 2002, multi-media artists Lary Seven & Jim Sharpe took a beat-up 8-track tape of Mountain's stoner rock classic "Mississippi Queen" that they'd found, sonically messed with it to create even more echo-drenched headbanging madness in three different versions, and released it on this extremely limited, underground private press/art project double-7" package with a burlap insert showing a monkey w/ two turntables on the front. The result has since become an alternative favorite on college radio stations around the country, and it's pretty frickin' genius. Two identical copies of the 7" were included so that DJ mixmasters could play both simultaneously and mix to their hearts' content. I have no idea whether permission was received from Leslie West & Mountain (probably not since there's no reference to them or "Mississippi Queen" on the record sleeves!) This quickly sold out and copies are now very hard to come by. Record One: VG+++. Record Two: VG+, surface wear on B-side from storage next to burlap insert (this apparently happened on numerous copies of the record which were packaged w/ the burlap inner); on Plastikville private label, U.S. press.
