Label: PRESTIGE/NEW JAZZ - # NJLP 8249. Mono pressing on medium weight vinyl. Label is purple with silver text.

Condition:
DISC: Vinyl retains 100% of original gloss, has been played a small number of times and handled with care. Grades nice VG+ to VG++ with a couple minor hairline scuffs. There are a few soft tics, but no serious marks or problems. Fidelity is excellent. Labels are clean. A very fine playing copy.
JACKET: Jacket is gorgeous NEAR MINT. Front panel is clean and glossy. Reverse cover is pasted on; has small pen notation at bottom right and faint stamp marks at upper left. Nice seams and corners. A beautiful jacket worthy of display.

“Organist Larry Young was 19 when he made this, his debut recording. Although he would become innovative later on, Young at this early stage was still influenced by Jimmy Smith, even if he had a lighter tone; the fact that he used Smith's former guitarist, Thornel Schwartz, and a drummer whose name was coincidentally Jimmie Smith kept the connection strong. R&B-ish tenor Joe Holiday helps out on two songs, and the music (standards, blues and ballads) always swings. Easily recommended to fans of the jazz organ.”
