Here's the story as I understand it. Gimmer Nicholson is a mid-60s Memphis folkie who bolts for San Francisco to join up with the hippies. He writes some music while out there and sends a tape back to his brother, who is still in Memphis. Tape winds up with Terry Manning who gets him to come back to Memphis and record it. They use tape loops and delay with acoustic and electric guitars in Manning's studio and create a really unique sounding instrumental record. The record becomes a favorite of the Big Star gang, which is just sorta forming, especially Chris Bell who lives with Manning at the time. Evidently this sound was very influential on the acoustic Big Star tracks like "Thirteen." The record was set to become the first album on the fledgling Ardent label, before Cargoe and Big Star, but Nicholson had issues with the cover and final mix and the project got shelved. More than a decade later Sid Selvidge does a small pressing on his Peabody label. A complete hidden gem in the late 60s/early 70s Memphis music saga. This is the first copy of this record I've ever seen.

Condition: Vinyl: EX, Cover: VG+

Vinyl is clean and glossy with a few light sleeve scuffs that should not affect play. Cover is very nice with faint ringwear, minor age discoloration and minor corner and edge shelf wear.

Return Policy: If you are unhappy with your item - let us know. This doesn't happen often, but when it does we take it seriously. You can return it for full credit within seven days of receiving the item.

RECORD GRADING

 We grade conservatively, and aim to describe the records accurately. We grade visually according to Goldmine standards, with the addition of an Excellent (VG++ or E)grade for the hazy grey area between Near Mint and VG+. This grade applies to records with one minor flaw that makes it no longer Near Mint, but still above VG+.
